How to identify the issue
Read the inscriptions, denomination and year, then compare the images, weight and diameter with the issue’s catalogue entry. An image alone cannot establish authenticity. The same denomination may have been struck in different alloys over time.
Metal content and numismatic value
Gross weight includes every metal in the alloy. Multiplying it by the fineness expressed as a fraction gives the theoretical fine-metal content. Face value is a historical monetary denomination, not the current market price. Condition, rarity, authenticity and collector demand also affect numismatic value; these catalogues do not provide live prices.
