Bulgarian euro coins
Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, at the fixed rate of 1 euro = 1.95583 Bulgarian lev (BGN).
The national sides show three subjects from Bulgarian history, surrounded by the twelve European stars.
- 1 to 50 cents: the Madara Horseman, a medieval rock relief and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- 1 euro: Saint Ivan of Rila, founder of Rila Monastery and patron saint of Bulgaria.
- 2 euros: Saint Paisius of Hilendar, author of the Slavo-Bulgarian History. The edge bears “БОЖЕ ПАЗИ БЪЛГАРИЯ” (God protect Bulgaria).
